500 consignors from over 20 countries have contributed to the Rapp Auction in June of 2010. These numbers document our practiced routine in processing national and international consignments. There are very convenient ways indeed for consigning material to Rapp Auctions. Heinrich Krüger*, one of our many consignors, has kindly agreed to help us explain the details of the transaction.
1. Contact by Telephone
After an engaging life of collecting stamps, ?Mr. Krüger (80) has decided to sell his collection. Over all those years, he had noticed Rapp Auctions many times while reading various trade magazines. Therefore, he does not hesitate, picks up the phone and calls.
2. Receiving Documentation
In no time, Mr. Krüger receives extensive ?documentation. Auction Catalogues, the Results Report, press reports, letters of recommendation – all very impressive. At short notice an appointment is arranged.
3. Trip to Berlin, the Home of our Client
We travel to Berlin, the client’s home town. This is part of our permanent customer services. We are continuously en route throughout Europe. Our first consultation is free of charge and non-binding.
4. Extensive Consultation
We always take time for an extensive counseling ?session. We examine the collections, answer any ?questions, explain the marketing concept and the ?substantial advantages of Switzerland as the ideal place for the sale of stamps and coins – a bundle ?of convincing arguments. Agreements are then ?easily made. If desired, an advance payment on the expected auction proceeds is made.
5. Acceptance and Transport
When we take over your collection, all the ?formalities are taken care of by us, including careful packing and safe transportation with full insurance coverage through a Swiss insurance company.
6. Philatelistic Assessment
of the Consignment Philatelistic experts with long-term market experience assess the collection and split it up from a sales strategic point of view. If necessary expert certificates are commissioned. All of these procedures are operated with the highest security precautions.
7. The Auction
Then follows the auction sale. Some consignors, including Mr. Krüger, are personally present. They relaxingly watch the successful auctioning off of their treasures on an impressive global stage. The international and financially strong audience comes from all 5 continents.
8. Payment of the Proceeds
The pay off from the proceeds is followed through punctually in any currency, cash, through cheque or wire transfer. International consignors do not pay any sales taxes (VAT).
