Two Brothers, One Passion – An Exceptional Collection at Rapp Auction House
In early June 2026, Rapp Auction House will present a coin collection of remarkable coherence and quality: the Weibel Brothers Collection. Built over decades, it brings together Swiss silver and gold coins from the 16th century onwards, rare pattern pieces, and carefully selected international issues — a collection defined by substance and a deeply felt passion.
The Legacy of Two Brothers from Endingen
The Weibel Brothers Collection comprises well over 300 auction lots and represents a significant offering in this season’s sale. It tells not only of rarity and quality, but of two brothers who did not merely preserve history — they lived it. Over many years, Karl and Hans Weibel assembled their collection with knowledge, patience, and quiet dedication — each coin a testament to origin, time, and memory.
Early Years in Endingen
Karl and Hans Weibel grew up in Endingen in an environment shaped by strong values, education, and a sense of groundedness. Despite a fifteen-year age difference, they were connected by far more than family ties. Both were deeply rooted in their homeland, both drawn to history, and both driven by a desire to understand, preserve, and shape.
Two Lives – A Shared Perspective
Karl Weibel (1922)
Karl pursued an academic path, studying medicine in Fribourg, Zurich, Basel, and Bern. He later became the first specialist in radiology in the Canton of Aargau and opened his own institute in Baden in 1955. Alongside his medical career, he developed a profound interest in local history, becoming a dedicated chronicler of Endingen.
Hans Weibel (1937)
Hans followed an entrepreneurial path. After completing his training, he established his own business, later taking over the Kyburz furniture factory and developing a modern production facility in Endingen. At the same time, he was actively engaged in political and civic life within his region.
